Live Life To The Full

Hi Victory,

Wow, November is here!! I especially love this time of the year with not only the change in the weather and the beautiful decorations but the time when our church family comes together to bring hope and love to those in need.  Here are some of the events we have coming up over the next month:

Thanksgiving Outreach (partnering with City Center)

Saturday, November 18

Meet at City Center at 9am.

We will be handing out coats and winter gear, serving a hot meal, and spending time with people who live at Sooner Haven and Ambassador Courts apartments, along with other families that will be at City Center. We have started collecting coats and winter gear for all ages at our campus; please bring donations to either the Main Lobby or VKids Lobby.

To volunteer, sign up in the Lobby at the Info Kiosk. We will be in contact with you with all the details for the “day of” outreach at the three locations mentioned above.

Men’s Breakfast

Saturday, November 11@9a

Located in the Commons
FREE childcare

Get to Know Victory

Sunday, November 5@11am (3-week session)

Located in the Commons

Email Pastor Jane Zahasky at jane.zahasky@victory.church and let her know that you will be attending. We would love the opportunity to meet you and your family.

What an awesome privilege we have to be part of a church that believes people can belong before they believe. Thank you for stewarding God’s resources well and moving beyond yourself to help others live life to the full.

See you Sunday!

BACK-TO-SCHOOL—We need YOU!!!

Hey, Victory Church!

We are so excited about our upcoming Back-To-School Outreach for the schools in our community this coming Saturday, Sept. 9th.  We will meet at the OKC Campus, in the West Auditorium at 9:15 am.  We should finish around noon or earlier.

We are partnering with 5 schools in our community working on flower beds, replacing a roof, repairing and painting a storage shed, and much more.  We need you, your heart to serve, and your expertise to help make this happen!  Please contact our Outreach Pastor, Jane Zahasky, at jane.zahasky@victory.church to let her know you will be joining us.

It’s going to be a lot of fun as well as such a great opportunity to help our kiddos!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Many times, the first weekend of the new year is one of the lowest attended Sundays of the year. With the hustle and bustle of the Christmas holidays, many people need an extra day to recover, and Sunday becomes that day. The family is gone, the house is a wreck, traveling has left us depleted, we’ve eaten more than we should have, and our bank accounts may have taken a hit from all of the gifts we purchased.

This year is unique in that the new year begins on a Sunday (January 1st), and it represents the start of something new. C.S. Lewis once said, “You can’t go back and change the beginning. But you can start where you are and change the ending.”  This quote reinforces the prophesy of the prophet Isaiah which reads, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV).

I don't know what your 2016 looked like, but this Sunday I believe I have a message designed specifically for you. I believe God is challenging us to give Him the first of our new year. If you are traveling, you can watch online. If you stay up late on New Year’s Eve, you can come to the 11:45am. Whatever you do, don't miss this powerful day as we start our new year in the presence of God. We are beginning 2017 with a series called “Make Room.” This is no ordinary series. We will be seeking God and beginning a 21-day fast on January 8th as a church. I can’t wait to see you here.

For more information about the fast, and to sign up for daily devotionals from our pastoral staff during your fast, visit us at www.victory.church/makeroom and sign up today.

Christmas At The Movies

Christmas At The Movies

I pray you’re doing well. This weekend is going to be a HUGE weekend. First, I cannot wait to share with you the results from the Heart for the House offering, which I will do this coming Sunday. I also want to remind you of our exciting new series starting this weekend called, “Christmas at the Movies.”  We are combining three of our favorite things: Church, Christmas, and movies! This is a series where we pull godly principles out of Christmas movies and talk about them. No, we do not find our theology in movies; we find it in God’s Word. However, God's principles are all around us, on a daily basis, if we will look for them.

This is a PERFECT series to invite someone to church. We will have free popcorn, free water, and candy available to purchase. And yes, you can munch on it during the entire Experience. You will not want to miss a single week of this series. Because of copyright laws, we will not be able to podcast any of this series all month long, so do not miss a single week!

Get your friends, grab your Bible, and I will see you "At the Movies" this Sunday

Letter From Pastor Jon

I pray this message finds you well today. I wanted to follow up on the message I spoke last weekend, November 6th. If you missed it, I highly encourage you to go back and watch, or listen to, the message. In it, I announced our upcoming Heart for the House offering that will take place on November 20th.

This year’s offering will go toward the following projects:

1. City Center - 50% of every dime that comes in will go directly to giving birth to the City Center. If you have not heard about this great outreach organization that we will be giving birth to, please watch the video below for a detailed look at what City Center is.

2. Transportation vans - Our fleet of buses are in desperate need of replacing. It’s not about the wheels—it’s about the people who will be transported on those wheels coming to experience God’s presence in a real way!

3. Flooring remodel - We need to complete our flooring remodel in our kids' spaces at both the Edmond and OKC campuses. We are attracting many new young families with children. Our children's facilities must have excellence.

4. Shuttles and technology - As funding provides, we also need to update some technology at both campuses, as well as purchase new shuttles for the parking lot.

This year our goal is $400,000. I pray that you seek God and ask how He would have you partner with us in these great projects.

Remember the filters we use when we are asked to give financially to any organization or cause:

1. Give to cause before causation
We always believe in the cause first. If we do not believe in the establishment, or the leadership, we do not give.

2. Give to opportunity, not obligation
You should never feel obligated to give. We see giving as an opportunity to "handle it”; to use our resources for the glory of God. We don’t have to give, we get to give.

3. Give by proportion, not a portion
God is not as concerned about the height of our offering. He is looking at the heart of our offering. We give proportionally to what God has blessed us with.

4. Give on your knees, not on the spot
You should never be expected to give to an organization on the spot. As with everything else, we pray and seek God and ask Him what we should give.

I ask you to take the Heart for the House offering through those filters in your own life and pray about what God would have you give on November 20th. Thank you for being a part of this amazing church. Thank you for having a HEART FOR THIS HOUSE.

It is an honor to serve alongside you.

A Must Read

I do not send this type of message very often. You know the message I’m talking about. The one where the pastor tells you to be sure and not miss church this weekend because it is going to be the “BEST WEEKEND EVER!" In some ways the church has deluded the weekly worship experience down to nothing more than another entertainment event that we squeeze into our already overly stimulated week. But I didn’t come to talk to you about that. I came to urge you to not miss church this weekend! Not because we have talking monkeys, pyrotechnics, or shiny things to catch your eye, but because we have a massive announcement; an announcement that will require a tremendous step of faith for us as a church.

We are calling this, ONE BIG SUNDAY. I urge you to invite your neighbors, co-workers, family, and friends. This will be an announcement that will inspire even your non-Christian friends, and show them the true meaning of being a Christ-follower! I can promise you that this will be a day that will make you proud to be a Christ-follower and proud to call Victory Church your church!

So take a step. Move beyond your comfort zone and invite someone to church this week!

In His Grip,

Equip Leadership Night

I trust this finds you having an incredible week so far! I hope you were able to come Sunday as our special guest, John Bevere, continued our Momentous series. It was an absolutely amazing day where we saw 55 people give their lives to Christ. If you missed it, you can watch it, and every other sermon from the series, by clicking below:

I also wanted to reach out and give you a special invitation to join us at the OKC Campus this Wednesday, August 17 at 7pm, for our monthly Equip Leadership Night.

I know many times people do not feel drawn to come to these because they do not see themselves as a leader. However, I would argue that we are all called to lead! 1 Corinthians 9:24 in the Amplified Bible reads, "Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours.” We each have a calling, or race, that we are called to run—and we are not just called to run it, but to win it. Remember that fun word we talked about in week 1 of the Momentous series? We are called to “katalambano” it; to "take possession of” it and "make it ours!” Well, in order to win, one must lead. Michael Phelps could not win 23 gold medals without leading the race. This passage clearly tells us that we are called to win our race! We each run a different race, a different calling, a different purpose, but we are called to win with God’s empowerment. Therefore, I would conclude that you are called to lead! Join me Wednesday night as we discuss what it takes to win our race and lead the way God intends for us to lead!

I cannot wait to see you there.

More Blessed to Give

More Blessed to Give

What an amazing few weeks it has been at Victory Church. Our Single Mother’s Day of Pampering was so rewarding. Yes, it was rewarding for the 88 single moms who we pampered with gifts, shopping, massages, manicures, pedicures, hair styling, make-up, and much more. However, what I am referring to was the reward it was to serve them as the church. I had the opportunity to help a great group of men wash and detail cars. I witnessed a group of men who lived a life of radical generosity by giving of their time and energy to give these single moms a special day. I also witnessed a group of women willing to MOVE beyond themselves to make this a special day for someone other than themselves. We truly are a church of radical generosity that believes it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). Thank you to the volunteers and donors of goods and services who sacrificed to help make this a special day for the single moms in our church and community.

This Sunday we will continue to honor the moms in our church. Mother’s Day is going to be an unbelievably special day. Moms, you will laugh, cry, and walk away with a special treat as well. Do not miss this special day.

I am also incredibly excited to start our new series on May 15 entitled "Family Matters.” This 6-week series will dive into every aspect of the family, and we’ll discover that how we shape and mold our family truly does “matter!” We have several creative elements to make this series fun and impactful. Make plans now to be here every week!

You can watch the trailer by clicking the button below:

Thank you for your continued support, dedication, and sacrifice to God’s great church as we equip people to LIVE, MOVE, and BE in the fullness of Christ! It is an honor to do life with you.

Finding Your Fulfillment

Finding Your Fulfillment

You’re full of it! I got your attention didn’t I? No, I’m not angry at you and giving you a piece of my mind. I am letting you know that you are full of the Spirit of God. God’s desire is that we will live a life, “full of it.” John 10:10 tells us that Jesus came so that we could have life to the FULL. Remember this statement today as you go through your week. You were formed, to be filled, to find fulfillment.

Maybe you’re reading this email today and you're struggling to find your fulfillment or purpose in life. I encourage you to continue to seek the filling of whatever God is calling you to distribute. What do I mean by that? God has formed you with a purpose and He will fill you with the contents of whatever you need to find fulfillment. Remember, fulfillment is not a title on a business card or an amount of money in a bank account. True fulfillment comes as we become the vessel that continually pours out what God is giving us. As God gives us joy, we distribute joy. As God gives us resources, we distribute resources. As God gives us wisdom, peace, and wealth, we simply become a vessel for it to pass through us to others. This is fulfillment. The potter did not shape and form the pot to simply hold the contents, but to distribute them to thirsty people around them. God has shaped you in a specific way to hold a specific gift, anointing, and talent. However, He does not shape us to hold the contents, but to distribute them. I am praying for you this week that God would fill you up to overflowing, and you will discover a life to the full (John 10:10)!

If you missed the message and would like to watch it,
you can view it by clicking the button below:

What an absolutely incredible weekend! At all of our campuses combined we saw 35 people come to know Christ. This takes our year-to-date salvation number to 528. We measure many different numbers as a staff at Victory Church, but this is by far the most important thing we can measure. Over the past two weekends we have also baptized 44 people.

This weekend we start our new series, “No Filter.”
You can see the preview for this series by clicking below:

This will be a challenging and encouraging series as we take a look at the power of our perspective. How do you see yourself, how do you see others, and how do you see God? Do not just come alone; invite someone you know to come. Let’s continue to equip people to LIVE MOVE and BE in the fullness of Christ.

It is an honor to serve alongside you.

Thank You For Serving

Thank You For Serving

What an AMAZING Easter weekend at all of our Victory Campuses. The number of people who walked through the doors and experienced the presence of a loving God blew me away. Between our 3 campuses and 9 Worship Experiences, we saw 75 people make a commitment to follow Christ. We also had a Family Block Party for each of our campuses, reaching out to the local communities, encouraging and inviting them to come and be a part of what God is doing – and we had over 2,000 people in attendance!

I am so thankful for all of the Dream Team volunteers and staff that worked hard over the past few months in preparation, and then served countless hours to pull off a powerful Easter weekend.  It is an honor to serve alongside each and every one of you.

If you missed last weekend, let me encourage you to go back and listen to the message. We started our new series called “Fulfilled,” that I believe is transformational. We are called to live a life of fullness. John 10:10 tells us that Christ came so that we may have life, and not only life, but life to the FULL. You’re full of it! Wait…don’t take that in an offensive way. You are full of His spirit, full of His power, full of His purpose and destiny and, because of that, you are full of potential.

I can’t wait to see you this weekend!

Power of YOUR Invitation

Power of YOUR Invitation

To say you do not want to miss Easter this weekend is an understatement! Our creative team has been hard at work preparing for this day that I know will be life changing for you. But I want us to think about who else, in our realm of influence, that it could be life changing for. I know a man who comes to the Oklahoma City Campus that gave his life to Christ at our Easter Experience last year. He is now there every week, and I have seen his life change over the past year as he's continued to pursue the things of God. When I asked him what made him come to church last Easter he simply said, “Someone invited me.” I think we sometimes forget the simple power of an invitation. I wonder what this man’s life would look like today if he hadn’t been invited last year. I then wonder how many people that we come across everyday that would come to church if someone simply invited them. Luke 14:23 reads, "Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.'” This week, be mindful of this as you come across people you know, and even people you don’t know. Let’s invite someone to church and watch God capture them with His love!

Below is a video we created to help you use as a tool to invite people for Easter weekend.

Below are the Experience times for each campus:

Edmond Campus

  • Family block party starting at 4:30pm
  • Saturday Experience -  6:30pm
  • Sunday Experiences - 8:15am, 10am, and 11:45am

OKC Campus

  • Family block party starting at 3pm
  • Saturday Experience - 5:30pm
  • Sunday Experiences - 8:15am, 10am, and 11:45am

I am believing and praying for a powerful weekend. I cannot wait to see you there.
